Been Away too long

Well my dear readers, I must apologize for my extended absence. What has kept me away? Life basicaly. I had the flu followed by bronchitis so that initially kept me away.

Also I was trying to sort out the Erratic Thought Pattern podcast and came into some hiccups. Speaking of which I have some bad news about that. Although i did complete the editing I was having quite the difficulty getting it uploaded to the ETP blog page. But it gets worse. My laptop has seen better days. Besides being a lilttle banged up, it's power cord was previously chewed by my former roommate Shecky's dog. It was repaired some time ago but Small Lady has a bunny that apparently gets its kicks from chewing on cables. That damage was only noticed recently when I realized that the computer was maintaining power but will not charge anymore. So despite being very careful with it, I came home from my show on Sunday and it would not turn on anymore. As a result I have lost a lot of files I need, including the ETP Pilot.

On the bright side of things I did get a shiny new laptop on Tuesday.

Right now I am getting it all set up the way I like it. Wally, Jake and I plan to another rcording during our trip to visit Wally. Our Plan is to release that as the first podcast. Once I get the file recovered from the old laptop, we will release that as a lost pilot. That brings me to the good news.

Small Lady has ordered a replacement power cable from ebay (told her she could have it if I ever got a new one.) Hopefully it will work and hopefully it won't turn out to be a problem with the battery as well. If that is the case I can get my files onto the the new laptop and backed up on my external hard drive. If not I will take it somewhere to recover my files.

A whole lot going on in the comic book front. War of the Supermen and Brightest Day to mention a few things. You'll likely see my thoughts on that soon. Return of Bruce Wayne starts today but I'm waiting until the weekend to pick up my books.

Saw both the new Nightmare on Elm Street and Iron Man 2. Enjoyed them both but i thing I will share my thoughts in a future post.

In the mean time I am going to start writing up my post for the blog crossover Wally and I had planned.

Big game for the Habs tonight. Both Wally and I will be on edge to see the result.

GO HABS GO!!

That being said,

First Recording Done. Now the real work Begins

Hello Dear Readers! I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. If it wasn't a long weekend for you then you probably deserve one. It was quite the jam packed weekend for me but the best part of it was the first recording of Erratic Thought Patters. If you haven't been keeping up with Wally or I then you don't know that we, with Jake, have started a podcast. Now it isn't ready for release yet, since i still have to edit it but you can also see the new blog at www.erraticthoughtpatterns.blogspot.com

Also Wally has given me the nudge to Twitter by creating me a feed there. I have never used it before but it will add to the growing community of Wally, Jake and Romeo bloggyness. Yes I just made that word up.

I have lots of work ahead of me with all our new additions plus my first stab at podcast editing.

Stay tuned for more.

All Caught Up

Welcome dear readers to Hump-day. Take that however you like ;) That also means that it is new comic book day. I won't make it there until this weekend though. Boo.

Last night I was very excited and a little disappointed to be caught up to the current season of Criminal Minds. Excited because like I said, I am caught up. Why would I be disappointed you ask? Well, now I have to wait like everyone else to see a new episode. I think I'll get over it though.

Jake and I have continued to briefly talk about a podcast. I really want to find a way to include Wally as well. The trio doesn't get to do much together at the same time with Wally now in Toronto (not a dig at you Wally just a fact, but I still get to slap you for moving. Hugs ) Haven't actually directly asked him about it but I know he reads the blog. Jake even came up with a good name for it. He asked me to find out what we need to do and he's in. As a heads up to you Wally, I'm gonna give you a call over the next few days to bounce idea's off of you and see where your knowledge base is on how to start a podcast.

What would we pod about you ask? Well you will just have to wait and see. I will keep everyone updated as this project evolves.

Happy Monday

Good Morning dear readers! Now I realized that Happy Monday is an oxymoron but hey I tried. Its been a pretty good weekend. E-ve arrived into town on Wednesday. Honestly I thought about holding her hostage so that we could get Wally down here. Crap. I probably shouldn't have written that. Now they know my evil plan.

It was good to see E-ve. She came by both my Thursday and Friday karaoke shows and let me choose her songs too. Saturday I was up early which I normally don't do, but breakfast with E-ve was totally worth it.

Jake had a good opening weekend for Urinetown. My sister and I will be checking that out this weekend.

Had a random thought last night. Sent Jake a text saying we should start a podcast. The thought evolved even more when I was driving into work this morning. We could likely get Wally in on it too. Nudge nudge. I think it would be fun and would be like having a remote hang out with Wally.

Well it's a short one today, but I will see you again soon

Lost My Socks in Wal-Mart

Happy St Patrick's Day Everyone! Remember tonight if you are going to party hard to either have a DD or take a cab home. Now yesterday I promised to tell you how I lost my socks in Wal-Mart but before I get into the story you should know a few details. Just around the corner from my place is a 24 hour Wal-Mart and sometimes i just like going to Wal-Mart in the wee hours of the morning. Most of the time I don't have a reason other than just because I can. Usually it is a little adventure too. On this occasion I had finished one of my karaoke shows and had the urge to go. I was driving a friend home so she joined me for the possible adventure. Now I have a certain path I take when I go. After entering the store I walk by the men's clothing section to see if anything will catch my eye. This time I found a shirt that would go excellent with my kilt. Sorry Wally but you know pants aren't always an option with me much to your dismay. At the end of the clothing section I head over to electronics to browse and sometimes buy movies or video games. I was disappointed to find that Wal-Mart wasn't carrying Boondock Saints II but i ended up finding it Sunday anyway. While browsing in the movie section I was approached by two gentlemen who looked 20ish. This is what they asked "This might sound weird but can we have your socks?" As anyone would I thought the request was odd but before i could comment they continued with "We are on a scavenger hunt and..." Then I cut them off and almost shouted "Done!" In that split section I remembered the fun I had in High School participating in a scavenger hunt and wanted these gentlemen to succeed in their quest. They laughed with my quick reply and finished their sentence "...we need a stranger's socks" As I took my shoes off i told them " Now I can't account for their condition and handle them at your own risk"

I do have to give them Kudo's as I think it was actually pretty bright to chose a 24 hour Wal-Mart to seek out their item. I think mostly because it would be alot safer than asking some random dude on the street in the wee hours of the morning.

So I hope you found this story entertaining, but I realize it may have just been a had to be there moment.

I Love the Lunch Lady!

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Eventhough Tuesdays are one of my least favorite days. Why dear readers do you ask? Well not only do I work Day Job my normal 8 hours today but Tuesday's I also have to come in from 630 to 930ish. Makes for a long day. Now you may debate that some of my other days are long too when I have a karaoke show to run but that's different. That's fun work that most of the time doesn't feel like it. Okay, I'm done whining now.

At work we have a pretty damn good cafeteria and Lunch Lady is awesome! I have to say that I am a pretty good customer. I don't mean that to brag but it shows when Lunch Lady does the little extra things for me. Like giving me extra bacon with my breakfast this morning without charging me. Or the time she slipped some bacon into my ham and cheese sandwich. So even though Tuesdays suck, I know that Lunch Lady will take care of me.

Last week Boondock Saints II : All Saints Day was released to video stores which made me very excited. I did get to see it in theatres but it is a must have to own. I didn't actually get to pick it up on release day. Sunday morning Small Lady woke up late for work so after driving her in I decided I would pick it up. It took me a Future Shop, a Best Buy and 2 Blockbusters but I finally found both Boondock Saints films on Blu-Ray. I would put All Saints Day on the list of successful sequels. Not only was it very true to the original film but all the cast returned. Julie Benz (drool) was a very awesome and hot addition to the cast. I definately reccomend at very least renting it but it is definatley worth the purchase.

Last week was a big day for me comic wise. I missed picking up my sub the week before so i had a few to pick up. Not only that but the World of New Krypton Vol 3 HC was released and again I couldn't wait for the TP. I really want to get caught up on what I've been missing in Superman Comics. Also The Green Hornet # 1 came out. I love the character and I love that it is Kevin Smith writing it. Among his many talents, he writes some fine comic books. Definately reccomed that Wally picks it up. Jake already has.

Well I think that is all for now. Don't forget to come by and check out the next post becasue I am going to tell you how I lost my socks at Wal-Mart.

Kilt Weather!

Well I'm happy to say that I had a pretty awesome weekend. The tempature was on the plus side for the weekend which allowed me to pull out the ol' Utility Kilt on Friday. I was also very excited to fill in at one of my favourite venues. I love running shows there and I think in someways when I get to host there it kinda refreshes me a little bit. It makes sense to me anyway. What made it an extra special evening is that a friend was celebrating his birthday and raising money for the MS Society. A very worthy cause that the room managed to raise over $600 for. Big thanks to all that donated.

My interest in the show Criminal Minds keeps growing. I have motored through the first three seasons and I started on the 4th over the weekend. It was sad during the 3rd season when Mandy Patinkin departed from the show. He is an awesome actor. Eventhough I knew that it was coming it still made me a little sad. Partnered with that, I also knew that Joe Mantegna would be replacing him. I admit I was skeptical that he would be a worthy replacement, but I am enjoying his performance in the show very much. Soon I will be completely caught up with the show and have to wait every week just like everyone else.

Sadly I did not have time to pick my comic sub this week but that just gives me more to look forward to this wednesday.

Before I go, just a reminder that Final Fantasy XIII is released tomorrow. Just sayin'

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

So dear readers, I must apologize for my extended absence. It has been a very hectic few weeks and although i have really wanted to, I haven't had the chance to blog. It's been filled with some ups and downs but here it goes.

The Good

A couple weekends ago was extra special with Jake and I going to Auntie Z's for Wally's birthday. Although we were only there for the night it included lots of love and fun which also included E-ve.

Also picked up some more comics including the hardcover Mon-el trade. I decided that I couldn't wait for the paperback. Very good story bringing one of my favorite characters in the the pages of Superman. The phantom zone mysteriously begins disappearing Mon-el tells Superman that he'd rather die of his lead poisoning next to him than vanish in the phantom zone. After Superman pulls him out he notices a mysterious vile telling Mon-el to drink it. He does as a last ditch effort and he is miraculously cured. Once he leaves for New Krypton he entrusts Mon-el to take his place. There is so much more to it so I highly encourage you to pick it up.

The Bad

Well I had a little incident with my driver's license that left me in the passenger seat for almost two weeks. Now don't be silly and think it had anything to do with alcohol. I would never do that. No it just involved an unpaid fine that was previously taken care of.

Now it only took so long to take care of it because right after that a very loved and respected colleague of mine passed away due to a massive stroke. I was one of the Pall Bearers which is as scary as much it is an honour. The Service was beautiful and his family was very happy with the Pall Bearers.

The Ugly

Well if you ask Jake, Forest Whitiker.

Well Folks that's all for today!

Best. Episode. Ever.

So first before I get too far, I would like to give Jake and Wally a Spoiler Alert with regards to the Absolute Justice episode of Smallville. Now before I get to far into the review, I want to share my view of Smallville for the readers. Many of you know that I am a huge fan of Superman. It borders on obsession. Jake and Wally will tell that it is and I secretly agree. Ok I admit it is an obsession. You might be confused as to why a huge Superman fan is also a huge fan of a show based on his favorite character ever which is filled with inconsitancies of the Superman canon. I realize those and have accepted the show for what it is. A new telling of his origin, aimed at heavily pop-cultured generation. They need to use widely familiar charaters to keep interest in the show. I get it. Anyways here it goes:

*******Spoiler Alert********

Friday was a huge event for Smallville fans, with the airing of the Absolute Justice episode. It was a two hour event guest starring characters from the Justice Sosciety of America. Which JSA characters do you ask? Well, it was heavily centered around Hawkman, Dr. Fate and Star Girl but we also got glimpses of Sandman and Star Spangled Kid. Very exciting. Getting to see these iconic characters on TV.

Someone is killing JSA members with an icy tocuh. In the opening we see a meeting between Chloe and the Star Spangled Kid. He tells here he knows she's trying to get a team together and he's trying to re-unite his. Chloe only gets a bit of a confusing conversation before Star Spangled Kid throws her into a dumpster to protect her from an icy blast. After the icy battle concludes Chloe opens the dumpster to find a dead Star Spangled Kid with icy holes in his chest.

After some investigation, and some brief encounters with each other we see meetings between the alter egos of our heroes , Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Star Girl, meeting with Clark, Ollie, Chloe and John Jones, or if you prefer J'onn J'onzz.

The JSA and the early formings of the Justice Leage initially clash as Chloe's digital digging finds reports on all of the JSA mbrs being criminally charged. We get to see glimpses of Alan Scott, Jay Garrick and a few other iconic JSA characters. We even get to see parts of Hawkgirl, Green Lantern and Flash 's uniforms.

Once Carter Hall reveals they were all set up after they wouldn't unmask and work for the government, the teams realize that they need to work together to stop Icicle, who is the one who killed Star Spangled Kid and Sandman. But it is not the original Icicle. His son, who is working for Pamela Grier and Checkmate, has a personal agenda by getting revenge for the JSA putting his father into a vegitative state after a brutal battle that left Hawkgirl dead. Pamela Grier was an excellant choice to fill the role of this character. Also very exciting.

Here was the most exciting part of the episode for me. Dr. Fate touches Clark and we get to see his vision. The screen is flowing with red and then we see a glimpse of the "S" shield and realize it is Superman's Cape. I was in need of a towel after this scene.

One of my other favorite parts is getting to see a very brief shot of J'onn's martian form. Big fan of that.

The teams eventually work together to win the day and they all learns some valuable lessons.

Once you watch the episode you will realize I left out a lot of details. I only wanted to give you a taste to encourage you to watch this episode.

*****End of Spoliers******

There you have it. I realize this has been a long one but I still hope you enjoyed.

One more thing before I finish this edition. Since the begining of my quit smoking effort i have only smoked 11 cigarettes. Pretty good for a pack a day smoker. I am also happy to tell you that Saturday was my first completely smoke free day :)

Time to sign off.

Day 3

Welcome dear readers to Day 3. So in the past few days, i have had 4 and a half cigarettes. I am quite proud of myself since I was pretty close to a pack a day. I have been using nicorette gum to supplement my cravings. Friday i have an appointment with Day Job's quit smoking program and my benefits will cover my cessation aids. I think I am doing well so far.

In other big news, I went to the Comic Book Shoppe after work on Monday to start my new sub there. You see for a little while i haven't been able to afford my comic book hobby. Now that I can again i am very excited. I am getting, of course, the Superman titles including Supergirl. As well as JSA, JSA All Stars, JLA,Green Lantern, and GL Corps. When I went to pick up my first sub today, I also added Green Arrow and Booster Gold. Can't Forget them.

I look forward to making some blog reviews after i read them.

Anticipating the Abosolute Justice episode of Smallville this week. :)

Well Chinese Food is here so I'm gonna enjoy it and then head out for an evening of karaoke.

Ow!

Hello again, faithful readers. Meant to get here earlier this week but life got in the way so welcome to Saturday. Well it has been a rather uneventful week minus Thursdays trip to the hospital. Don't worry, your dear editor in chief didn't injure himself again. Well not really.

You see for quite some time i have had an ingrown to nail bothering me. Ya i know its gross but I feel like sharing. Don't worry if you decided to skip this paragraph, I won't be offended. Thursday I went in for the procedure. I was very pleased with the doctor. He layed out the options for me, explaining each very well. It was his decision but it still made me happy that he included me in the process. I do have to say that the block freezing of my toe was the most painful part of the whole process.

Enough gross stuff.

I despise the song Don't Stop Believing. There i said it.

February is just around the corner and that means two things. Wally's birthday is coming up and I'm excited. Been a while since I've gotten to see him. Hopefully Jake will be able to join us because its always a blast when the three of us unite. I will also get to see E-ve and bring her back her Tupperware she bought from Ikea back in May and forgot in my van.

The other thing is that I am going to quit smoking starting on the 1st. Yoshi and Pudding are both joining me which will be very helpful. One of my Day Job co-workers is quitting too so i even have support at work. Be forewarned that it may cause a few angry rants this week due to the nicotine withdrawl.

Big thanks to Yoshi this week. He was my schlepper for a few of my shows. He'd do it without, but i bought him beer for being so helpful. Pudding was a big hand as well over the past few days .

Jake and I are going to babysit my twin niece and nephew tonight and likely watch something out of his bag 0 movies once the settle down for sleepy time.

Well folks, thanks for reading this edition and I will see you next time.

What a Week!

Well it has been quite the week for your editor in cheif. Day Job has been quite hectic as of late due to the situation in Haiti. But don' t worry faithful readers (actually now that i mention that im not sure how many i have besides Jake and Wally), I am not going anywhere so far. I did however have to make a run to Trenton to drop off some equipment that is going over.

After my migrainy start to the week, I decided to spoil myself a little. I bought a PS3. Now some who know me might think its a little overkill. I have an xbox 360 and my cousin/roomate who i like to call Small Lady, has a Wii. Although i have found a way to justify it to myself lol. You see, i have an 46 inch HD TV and really wanted a Blu Ray player. So i thought i would spend the extra money and get the PS3 since i am gamer. See perfect logic. I don't regret my decision. :)

Also had a visit from a very good friend from Toronto, Heath. He got in while i was on my way back from Trenton. He and Small Lady played some Wii until I returned. Later Yoshi and Wife # 1,( who for now will be called Pudding) joined us and we watched the new episode of Supernatural. It was AWESOME. Wife # 1's name comes from that episode. She isn't too keen on it but i gave her 48hrs to come up with an alternative lol.

Filled in at one of our Friday night Karaoke spots and it was a good night. Spent some time Saturday and today at Day Job too.

Well i'm off to watch another Blu -Ray movie before i head out to host tonight.

L8R

oh almost forgot, went to See Legion. It is worth wild to see.

Busy Week!

Well your editor in cheif is back! This week has been quite eventful. As I'm sure you all know, there was an earthquake in Haiti. Day Job was in a frenzy as we were told that we may very well be going to assist the releif efforts there. We do have 6 people prepped to go but they are still in Canada for now. My thoughts go out to them to be safe.

Big thanks to all my friends and family who have expressed their love and concern if i do end up going.

Now last issue I promised to share my thoughts with you on the movie Daybreakers. Well if you are thinking of spending your money to see it in the theatre, it's worth it. I did enjoy the movie. It is a wonderful concept that also stays mostly true to the vampire mythos. Don't worry we don't see any vampires sparkle in the day light. Both Ethan Hawke and William Dafoe have great roles and perform them well. As much as I enjoyed it, I did feel like it was missing something. It seemed to flow too fast and the cure was just a little too easy to find/discover. However, I did like the idea for the cure.

Well nuff said about that. Don't want to give too much away. Some of you may not have seen it yet.

I think I have run out of steam for now.

P.S. I have started watching season 1 of Criminal Minds and I love it!

Welcome to the Semi-Daily Planet

Well to tell you the truth, this is my first time. Now that I already have your minds in the gutter, let me tell you why we are really here today. But before I do that I have to give a shout out to Jake and Wally. I've been following Wally's blog, www.newmorningmusings.blogspot.com for quite sometime. Also I've been anticipating then next post on Jake's blog, www.mysideofthemenu.blogspot.com (just sayin).

The other day , or Sunday to be exact, I was in a little fit of aggitation. In one of my jobs I am a karaoke host. As fun as it is, there are things that do make it feel like work. That initially was going to be the topic of my blog. But after some discussion with Wally, he made me realize that it shouldn't just be negative. Especially since that is not who I am. Wally is right.

So to avoid becoming one of those angry bloggers, I am just going to be me. I have many interests which include music, movies, comics etc. Mostly I think I may just ramble on about randomness.

When taking a break from writing my first post I actually dozed off. Since I am now at work, I guess that is what I should do. To give you a little taste of whats to come, next entry I will share my thoughts on the movie Daybreakers.

One more thing. You may be wondering who I am. Well if you follow Wallys blog, you know me as Romeo.
